Automatic assignment is a unique feature of BUGed. When a bug is opened, BUGed automatically identifies who the potential owner for the bug is and assigns the bug accordingly. This is achieved by keeping track of:

The feature area against which the bug is being filed.
The bug category.
The developers in the feature area and the components they own.
Availability of the developer and the scheduling applied.
